Marian Mckinney

CANFIELD - Marian V. McKinney, 80, passed away Feb. 16, 2016, at St Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana, where she had been a resident since August of 2013.

Marian was born March 5, 1935, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Carl J. Newman and Anne M. Varley Newman.

Marian was a 1953 graduate of Ursuline High School, as well as a 1956 graduate of St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. She worked in various facilities, including St. Elizabeth's Hospital, South Side Hospital, and North Side Hospital, until her retirement in 2002. Marian had a desire to be a nurse from age 5 and often said "Once a nurse always a nurse." She will be remembered for her compassion and caring disposition.

She married James M. McKinney of Youngstown on Dec. 30, 1957. They had four children, James M. (Nancy) of Cranberry Township, Pa., Edward P. of Canfield, Kathleen L. of Canfield, and Robert J. (Tammy) of Marysville. They had four grandchildren, Danielle McKinney and Douglas McKinney of Cranberry Township, and Shawn McKinney and Joshua McKinney of Marysville.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, April 2, 1997. She was also preceded by her stepmother, Margaret Newman.

Funeral services will be held at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. Family and friends may call Friday, Feb. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
