Marie Kushner

BERLIN CENTER - Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Marie "Teesie" Kushner, 81, formerly of Austintown, who passed away Wednesday at her home after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side.

Teesie was born March 28, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Talbot Maley.

Teesie was a 1949 graduate of Chaney High School. She was a homemaker and was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown. Teesie enjoyed crocheting, crosswords and was a prankster. Her greatest love was for her family and she took great pride in all her grandchildren.
Her husband, Edward S. Kushner, whom she married April 16, 1951, passed away Oct. 17, 1999.

Teesie leaves two daughters, Cynthia M. Paul Lischak, with whom she made her home in Berlin Center, and Christine A. Mark Scharrer of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, Edward S. JoAnne Kushner Jr. of Marysville, Wash. and Gregory T. Dawn Kushner of Mesa, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren, Kristi, Laura, Heather, Matt, Jenna, Stephanie, Steve, Jamie, Shannon, Shawn and Brandon.

Teesie was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Evans; a brother, Thomas R. Maley; and an infant granddaughter, Kathryn Kushner.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Teesie's family would like to give a special thanks to Emma and Reyna of Hospice of the Valley, but especially to Karen for her loving daily care of our mom.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice House.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
