AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Marie T. Sanders, 79, who died Wednesday afternoon at Austinwoods Care Center.
Marie was born Feb. 7, 1930 in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie Chance Strauch.
She had worked in the clerical department of the U.S. Steel Corporation and was a charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and its senior citizens and Altar and Rosary Society.
Her husband, Ralph Sanders, whom she married Oct. 21, 1950, and who died Dec. 4, 2004.
She is survived by a daughter, Anita Sanders of Connecticut; a son, David Sanders of Austintown; a sister, Laura Dunlap of McDonald; and a brother, Richard Jean Strauch of North Jackson.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society in Marie's memory.
