POLAND, OHIO - Prayers will begin Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Mario DiSalle, 77, who died early Thursday morning at his home surrounded by his family.
Mario was born in Pacentro, A'Qulla, Italy, the son of Guerino and Mary Giovanna DiPilla DiSalle. He had moved to Venezuela when he was 18 for work and later returned home to Italy before coming to the U.S. in 1960.
He had worked at Valley Mold in Hubbard for a number of years before working for the salvage department of GM Lordstown. He retired from General Motors after 31 years in 1997.
He was a member of the Pacentrano Club and its bocce league, the Sons of Italy, and competed in local Morra contest. Mario enjoyed gardening, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, the former Anna Casasanta, whom he married Feb. 11, 1962; a daughter, JoAnn Kevin Buffa of Boardman; a son, Gary DiSalle of Poland; and two grandchildren, Jenna Ann Buffa and Nicholas John Buffa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The DiSalle family would like to thank Dr. Ted Faull, Dr. Nino Rubino and their staffs, Mario's health aid Tina, Southern Care Hospice for their professional and compassionate care, and Stephanie Wasilisin for her guidance during his illness.
