Marjorie Brusko

March 5, 1924 — July 14, 2014

AUSTINTOWN - Marjorie "Madge" H. Brusko, 90, passed away peacefully Monday, July 14, 2014, after a brief illness. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Madge was born March 5, 1924, in County of Wilshire, Salisbury, England, the daughter of George and Dora Parrett.

After graduating high school, Madge obtained a license for foot therapy and worked for a podiatrist in England. She met her husband, Albert "Abe" Brusko, while he was stationed in England. They married in 1945 and then journeyed to the United State to begin a new life, with many relatives and friends waiting to meet her.

She worked at Zitello's Grocery for her sister-in-law for many years and later worked at the Mahoning Avenue Dairy Queen for her nephew. She was active in many church functions and enjoyed her church's Senior Citizen's Club. She was also a member of the Austintown Senior Center, where she met many new friends and attended many activities and socials. Her family, friends and special neighbors meant so much to her, and she made them special in her heart. Madge also had a special love for dogs and cats and enjoyed any time she could be around them.

Her great loves, outside of the aforementioned, were playing cards and the beach. She would reminisce about the Isle of Wite in England, where she went with her parents, and Siesta Key, Fla., where she wintered for at least 10 years with her husband and brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Her independence was very important to her, and she truly made the most of it.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Abe, in 2010; her parents; and her brother, Fred.

She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, a niece and her family and cousins in England. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews throughout the United States.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Briarfield-Ashley and St. Elizabeth Health Center for the heartfelt care they provided for their loving aunt.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
