POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday evening at 6 p.m. at the Holy Family Church by Msgr. William Connell, Fr., Gerald DeLucia and Mark's uncle, Fr. Timothy O'Neill for Mark J. Sullivan, 56, who died Monday morning at Hospice House.
Mark was born April 29, 1956, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph Paul and Ann Marie O'Neill Sullivan.
He was a 1974 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University. He worked as a blood bank technician at Northside Hospital for thirty years. He was a member of the Holy Family Church and was involved with its men's renewal.
Mark loved to be with his family and enjoyed coaching his son's sports teams. Mark was also an avid hunter and was a member of the New Middletown Sportsman's Club and in 2007 was named the Mahoning County Federation of Sportsman's Clubs Conservationist of the Year. Most recently, Mark was remembered as inspiring the creation of "Team Sullivan."
He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa Smith, whom he married March 3, 1979; three sons, Jacob P. of Chesterfield, N.J., Sean of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mark J. Sullivan Jr. at home; and two brothers, Paul N. Laura Sullivan of Youngstown and Dan Terrie Sullivan of Poland.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Sullivan.
The Sullivan family would like to thank all of the family and friends, along with the staff of Hospice House, for their love and support.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Mark Sullivan Family Fund at any PNC Bank in his memory.
