AUSTINTOWN ? Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road for Mrs. Martha Mae Antal, 79, who died Wednesday morning at Hospice House, after being ill since November.
She was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Water Valley, Miss., a daughter of Jesse A. and Myrtle Anthony White and came to Youngstown in 1951.
Martha was employed in the past as the office manager for General Fire Proofing, at Remington Rand, and as the church office secretary at St. John Lutheran Church. She shared her love of God, bringing many youth to Christ by example and by being very active in the church all of her life. This included, teaching and being superintendent of Sunday school and Bible school, singing in the choir, serving on church council, leading the Healing Hearts Group, and leading Bible studies. She placed God and everyone else before herself.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Andrew Antal Sr., whom she married Nov. 19, 1955; a daughter Martha A. Michael Campbell of Youngstown; two sons, Andrew Debra Antal Jr. of Ithaca, N.Y. and Thomas J. Dineen of Akron; five grandchildren Brent, Jonathan Natalie, Christopher, Emma, and Joseph; four brothers, Thomas Jean, Jimmie Faye and Henry Grace of Mississippi and John Colleen of Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Shirey of Texas and Frances Haynes of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Myrtle White and two brothers, John K. and Charles White.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and Monday from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
The family requests contributions in her memory be made to Zion Lutheran Church for Choir Music or the Building Fund, or to the Hospice of the Valley Humility of Mary Health Partners.
