NORTH LIMA - Funeral services will be held on Friday Dec. 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the New Life Church, 2250 E. Western Reserve Road in Poland, for Martha A. Snitzer, 85, who went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening surrounded by her loved ones.
Martha was born on July 29, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Margaret (Mooney) Lonardo.
She attended South High School.
Over her lifetime she enjoyed cooking for her family, bowling, crossword puzzles, shopping and sewing. She had a love for music and playing the piano. Martha also enjoyed years of camping with her husband and family.
She was a devoted member of the New Life Church, and a member of the widows group at her church. Martha was a member of the Glow Girls, a cancer survivor group, that enjoyed social activities and volunteer work. She enjoyed spending time with her cherished friends. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her most precious memories were with her family, whom she loved.
Martha will be missed by her children, Marge (Ken) Zinz, of Austintown, Edward M Snitzer, of Youngstown, and Judy (Richard) Gozur, of Campbell; grandchildren Jessica (Dan) Galich, Joy (Jerry) Byers, Heather (Kevin) Sedlacek, Missy (Ryan) McTigue, Richard (Holly) Gozur, and Stan (Marielena) Gozur; great-grandchildren Madison, Olivia and Sophia Galich, Maggie and Katie Byers, Haley and Paige Sedlacek, Abigail, Emma and Logan McTigue, Richard III and Grady Gozur, Michael Gozur, and one great-grandchild arriving in March. She is also survived by a brother, Michael Lonardo, of Boardman; brother-in-law Keith Mackey, of Vienna; and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae (Don) Barnett, of California.
Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, the late Eddie S. Snitzer, whom she married on May 7, 1948. He passed on July 3, 2000, after 52 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Edward M. Snitzer Jr., who passed away May 5, 1977; and her in-laws, John Snitzer, Carl (Rose) Snitzer, and Elizabeth Mackey.
Family and friends may call Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
