Martin Rajkovich

POLAND - Prayers will begin Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Martin ?Marty? Rajkovich, 81, who died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Martin was born July 17, 1929, in Windsor Heights, W.Va., the son of Nick and Elizabeth Dzamba Rajkovich.

He was a 1947 graduate of Struthers High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and later served in the Air Force stationed in New Foundland during the Korean War and later served in the Army Reserves. He retired from Republic Steel and the P&LE Railroad, where he worked in the Mobile Equipment Department for 39 years.

Martin was a member of the Holy Family Church and the Poland Knights of Columbus. He also coached baseball for Rafoth?s Isaly and Mahoning Bank.

He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and music in the park.

Marty will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, the former Betty Veneri; his daughter, Kimberly Mark Telford of Poland; a son, Mark Jolene Rajkovich of Berlin Center; three grandsons, Weston Rajkovich of Boardman and Nick and Steve Bartolone of Columbus; a granddaughter, Amanda Smith of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and two great-grandsons, Kyle and Curtis Smith of Idaho Falls.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sebrina Nicholson; a son, Nicholas Rajkovich; a sister, Helen Zarisky; and two brothers, Pete and Nicholas Rajkovich.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
