AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Mary Louise Agler, 81, who passed away on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at home, peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was born to the late Louis and Mary Tepsick Muzenjack on May 14, 1932.
Mary wed Donald L. Agler on Oct. 6, 1956, and they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Mary graduated from Chaney High School before attending the Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing. Following graduation from nursing school in 1953, she began a career spanning over 40 years at Youngstown Hospital Association. In 1984, she earned her BSN degree from Youngstown State University. Mary held various positions throughout her career, working at both Southside and Northside Hospitals. She retired in 1995, ending her career as Director of Endoscopy and Same Day Care.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Family was Mary's passion and delight, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved preparing for holidays and having her house as the gathering place for family on any special occasion.
Mary loved crafting, flower gardening and creating a backyard playground where the birds and squirrels could always find food. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Las Vegas, as well as weekly trips to Mountaineer and The Rivers casinos.
Mary is survived by her husband; son, Donald Jr. (Carol) of Boardman; daughter, Betsy Agler of Austintown; grandchildren, Shelby Wem (fiancé T.J. Parker) of Austintown and Anthony (Alicia) Morocco; and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Adriana Morocco of Columbus. She also leaves her sister, Jennie Costas of Columbus. Mary also leaves her grandpuppy, Gizmo.
The family wishes to thank the staff of ValleyCare Northside Medical Center and UPMC-Montefiore for their wonderful care and compassion as well as Senior Independence Hospice for their exceptional homecare during her illness.
Family and friends may call today from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
