Mary Bednar, 92, passed away peacefully November 17, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis IN.
Mary was born on November 30, 1931 in Campbell, OH, to Anna (Biros) Bednar and Steven Bednar and had lived in Canfield for 48 years before moving to Carmel, Indiana 5 years ago to be closer to her niece and her family.
She graduated from Campbell High School in 1949 with honors and worked for multiple banks in the Youngstown area in the trust department handling the administration of trust fund assets. She retired from PNC Bank in 1997.
She leaves behind to hold onto her memory her niece, Christine and husband Anthony
Gioia, and her 2 great nephews, Zachary and Connor Gioia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Alveretta Bednar.
She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell and a member of the Canfield AARP No 3104. Mary played in several bank bowling leagues and once came very close to bowling a perfect game. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
A funeral liturgy will be held at Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church at 10 am on Tuesday November 26, 2024. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday from 9 to 9:45 at the church prior to services.
She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown and will once again be reunited with all her family and friends who have gone before her for all eternity. Almighty God in your mercy turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven. Amen.
