Mary Bogard

YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Mary "Elaine" Bogard, 71, who passed away Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a battle with pneumonia.

Mary Elaine was born June 29, 1941, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Arnold "Chops" and Josephine Louise Sammartino.

She was a 1960 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. As a homemaker, she celebrated 48 years of marriage with her husband, Dave. She enjoyed camping, annual trips to Maryland and had an everlasting love of cooking.

Dedicating herself to family, she caringly took care of her eldest son, David, until his passing in 1997.

She remained dedicated to her husband; son Greg of Canfield; daughter Lori of Boardman; and grandchildren Gregory and Samantha Bogard and Mary Josephine Rendo.

Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers material tributes may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
