Mary Campana

AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Saturday at 12:15 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for Mary J. Campana age 87 of Austintown who passed away Monday evening at the Hospice House. Mary was born February 13, 1920 in Falling Waters, WV, the daughter of Luigi and Sadie Johnson Prato. A graduate of Bessemer High School she had worked at the former Loblow's Grocery Store on South Ave. for over 17 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the ITAM Post # 3 Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of Italy # 858 Ladies Auxiliary, the Local # 1418 Retirees and its Auxiliary, the Campbell Senior Citizens, and a member and past president of the VFW # 1423 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary also served as a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Brecksville.
Her husband Joseph L. Campana whom she married December 11, 1941 died July 5, 2005. She is survived by her son Joseph Campana Sr. of Austintown, a sister Margaret Charles Hatfield of Oklahoma City, OK, four grandchildren, Joseph Meghan Campana Jr., Christina Joe Bengala, Amanda kevin Diaz, and Cassandra Campana, and five great grandchildren, Michael and Alexis Diaz, and Dominic, Nicholas and Anthony Bengala.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Frank, Pete and James Prato.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon Saturday morning at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
