HUBBARD - Mary E. Cogar peacefully passed away on June 8, 2024, in Hubbard, Ohio. Born on November 26, 1930, in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, Mary lived a life full of love, compassion and service to others. She will always be remembered for her kindness and unwavering dedication to those around her. She enjoyed simple pleasures, spending time with family and friends, a hot cup of tea, a well-mixed drink and a good book.
Mary pursued her passion for helping others by earning a nursing degree. This led to her first job working in the hospital at the Limestone Air Force Base in Maine where she met her future husband, Phil. They soon wed, sharing over 56 years of marriage until his death on March 16, 2009.
Mary's memory will forever live in the hearts of her surviving family members, daughters Raelene (Mark) Kish, Mary Ellen Thomas and son Jim (Doreen) Cogar, nine grandchildren, Jim Cogar, Erica Donahue, Matthew Kish, Josh Cogar, Philip Cogar, Nick Kish, Scott Thomas, Amy Thomas and Melissa Thomas and seven great-grandchildren, Kenzie Cogar, Roman Donahue, Cru Cogar, Rhett Donahue, Cora Donahue, Cannon Cogar and Cwen Cogar.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Ronan and mother, Stella (Reynolds) Ronan. Mary was also reunited with daughters, Sharon Cogar and Lisa Cogar, as well as her sisters, Betty Melanson, Dorothy Stewart, Eileen Daigle and brother, Raymond Ronan.
The service to honor and celebrate Mary's life will take place at St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main Street, Hubbard, Ohio 44425. A visitation will be held on June 17, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Elmwood Assisted Living for helping make the last few years of Mary's life so enjoyable. The care and friendship she received was greatly appreciated. Also, a thank you to Akeso Home Hospice for their compassionate end-of-life care and to Dr. Anne Stover and staff for all their help.
