Mary Conriote

YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward's Church in Youngstown for Mary Margaret McCann Conricote, who died Wednesday morning at Assumption Village.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1917, the daughter of Patrick McCann and Adelaide Farragher McCann. Mary Margaret lived her entire life as a resident of Youngstown.

She was a graduate of St. Columbia grade school and Rayen High School, class of 1936. After high school, Mary Margaret attended the Youngstown College Secretarial training program, graduating in 1938. She worked for the Automatic Sprinkler Corporation as a secretary and bookkeeper until she married and devoted herself to raising her family.

On June 21, 1947, Mary Margaret married Edward Conricote and they enjoyed 49 happy years together until his death in 1996.

Mary Margaret was a long time member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and was a past president of their Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She served as president of the Youngstown Ladies of Charity. She devoted many years as a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Health Center serving as chairman of the gift shop and as president of the Ladies Auxiliary Ursuline Booster club. She and her husband were members of the Serra Club to promote vocations in the Youngstown Diocese.

She resided at Park Vista Retirement community for 16 years after the death of her husband. There she continued to serve in many volunteer positions. She made many new friends and especially enjoyed her card club. This past year she has resided at Assumption Village. She has been a lifelong Notre Dame Football and Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Grace O'Hara; a brother, Paul and sister-in-law Mildred; her husband, Edward J. in 1996; and her son, Edward P. in 2004.

Mary Margaret is survived by her son, Robert (Kathleen) Conricote of Youngstown; and her daughter, Adelaide (Richard) Reichert of Canton. Family was everything to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her eight grand children, Katie, Molly (Mike Campana), Sara and Robert Conricote and Greg (Patricia), Ryan, Jason (Paige Maroney) and Kelly Reichert. She leaves behind a niece, Barbara Lehnerd; and 3 nephews, John McCann, Martin Conricote and James Conricote .

Her ever present smile and positive attitude will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank her special care givers this past year, Barb Christy and Carla Ray, for their devoted support.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Edward's Parish or Eddie Conricote Scholarship Fund through Liberty Township Fire Department.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 am. at St. Edward's Church.
