YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Austintown, for Mrs. Mary R. Cook, 91, who died Tuesday afternoon at Briarfield Manor.
Mary was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Mary Kikta Racek.
She was a graduate of Wilson High School and had worked at General Electric. Mary was a charter member of the church and was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
She had married Col. Howard A. Cook on Aug. 30, 1947, and they were married for 57 years.
Mary leaves a daughter, Gina (Patrick) Warren of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Stroney of Youngstown; two granddaughters, Tiffany Thorpe of Orlando, Fla., and Bethany Fanelli of Key Largo, Fla.: one grandson, Alexander Backhus; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, who died Sept. 17, 2005; a brother, Edward F. Racek; and a sister, Margaret Repasky.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
