POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, for Mary Jane Cossette, 82, who passed away Wednesday evening at Hospice House.
Mary Jane was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Youngstown, the daughter of Charles and Veronica (Melesky) Kay.
She was a graduate of South High School and attended nursing school. Mary Jane worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Health Center, until retiring to raise her family.
She was a member of the Holy Family Church, one of the original past members of the Junior Guild of St. Elizabeth Health Center, a member of the Mahoning County Women's Auxiliary Medical Society, and Holy Family Alter Guild.
Mary Jane enjoyed trips to Mountaineer, playing cards and watching football.
Mary Jane's husband, Dr. René J. Cossette, whom she married July 17, 1954, died July 25, 2010.
She is survived by three daughters, Michelle Cossette of Columbus, Cynthia (John) DeWitt of New Middletown, and Renee Cossette (Kathie Michael); three sons, Charles (Darla) Cossette of Columbus, Marc Cossette of Poland, and Alan (Amy) Cossette of Cleveland; and eight grandchildren, Jason, Brady and Jamie Roseman, Michael DeWitt, Danielle (Andy) Naples, Gina Cossette, Kaley Cossette and Luc Cossette; and great-grandson Jacob Roseman.
Mary Jane was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Hutko, Patricia Mirto and Louise Moran; and a brother, Charles Kay Jr.
Family and friends may call Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
