Austintown- Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday in the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Mary Jo Cowley, age 69, of Austintown, who died Thursday Afternoon in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Mary was born February 1, 1939 in Jeanette, Pennsylvania to the late Louis and Hazel Stine Helzel.
Mrs. Cowley was a Registered Nurse at Omni Manor for over 20 years until her health forced her to retire.
She was a member of the Chistian and Missionary Alliance Church. Mary was a 1957 graduate of Penn Joint High School in Penn Township, Pennsylvania; and also graduated from the Youngstown State University School of Nursing.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John R. Cowley whom she married August 20, 1960, he died May 4, 1978; and two brothers Arthur Helzel and Larry Helzel.
She is survived by a daughter, Robin Scott Ballenger of Colorado Springs, CO, two sons, John Sharon Cowley of Kentucky, and David W. Cowley of Austintown; two sisters, Ruth Pologruto of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Bess Peewee Block of Greensburg, PA; two brothers, Bill Eileen Helzel of Shut-In Gap, TN, and Frank Janet Helzel of Jeanette, PA; four grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8PM and Wednesday one hour prior to the services 10-11AM at the funeral home.
Burial in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
