Mary Hurley

AUSTINTOWN - Mary Elizabeth Hurley, 83, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Youngstown, the daughter of Walter D. and Alice M. (Cregan) Mahoney.
She was a 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School and a member of St. Luke Church in Boardman.
Mary worked at the Truscon Steel Company in Youngstown and the Favor-It Hostess Shop in Boardman. She was also a member of the Applewood Acres Garden Club, an avid card player, and known for her pies.
On Oct. 6, 1956, she was married to Francis (Hank) Hurley of Youngstown. They were married for 54 years until his death on Aug. 30, 2011. Mary leaves five children, Janie (Bob) Skusa of Poland, Elizabeth Hurley of New Orleans, Thomas Hurley of Seattle, Patrick Hurley of San Francisco, and William Hurley of Tampa, Fla.; and her granddaughter, Kathryn Hurley of New Orleans; stepgranddaughter Melissa (Steve) Eschman of Columbus; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Catherine Guerriero of Canfield.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter and James Mahoney; sisters Elaine Morton and Jane Mahoney; and an infant son, Francis. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., today, Jan. 8, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, at 3701 Starr Centre Drive, Canfield, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 350 N. Broad St., Canfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514; or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695 B, Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite 301, Canfield, OH 44406.
