AUSTINTOWN ? Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Mary Lou Kasek, 86, of Youngstown, who died early Saturday morning at Austinwoods Care Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Pittsburgh to the late Panko and Mary Wojtowicz. Mary Lou settled in Youngstown in 1948, moving from Granite Spring, N.Y.
She was a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Air Force. She was also a former auxiliary member of FOE 3298 and VFW Post 4237.
?Mom?s strength included her sacrifice and dedication to her beloved daughter, Mary Ann; the kindness she showed her neighbors including being the first to welcome new residents. Mom had a big heart and would help anyone out.? She also made the best kolaches and enjoyed sharing them with her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. ?Casey? Kasek, whom she married July 26, 1947, and died Nov. 27, 2000; a beloved daughter, Mary Ann Kasek; and grandson Ron J Kasek.
Mary Lou leaves her twin daughters, Diane M Birkner Gordon of West Columbia, Texas and Debra L. Stiner William of Austintown; two sons, Ronald J. Kasek Rose of Tyler, Texas and Charles J. Kasek of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Marcie Boyd Toby, Charles Kasek Jr, Michael Kasek, Billy Stiner, Sarah Stiner and Tyler Adamo Kasek.
?The family wishes to thank her care givers for the loving care provided by Austinwoods, and the transition of Mom?s final journey Home by the Hospice of the Valley staff. Rest in peace, Mom. We love you!
