CANFIELD - A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church for Mary Jane Kesner, 77, who unexpectedly died suddenly Thursday at her home.
Mary Jane was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of Andrew and Martha Lieberum Ludertovic.
She attended St. Patrick and later graduated from Ursuline High School. Mary Jane always said she was born to be a teacher so she earned her teaching degree from Youngstown State University. She taught at diocesan grade schools for over 50 years, including St. Nicholas, St. Brendan, and the last 35 years at St. Christine School.
After her full time retirement, she continued to substitute teach, currently at St. Christine and Austintown schools. Mrs. Kesner was honored as an educator being named to the Who's Who of American Teachers. She was a charter member of St. Christine Church and a proud YSU Penguin.
Mary Jane will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and teacher.
Her husband of 52 years, George M. Kesner, whom she married July 3, 1954, died Feb. 14, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristine L. and her husband, Raymond C. Martin of Hilton Head, N.C.; her son, G. Kraig Kesner of Canfield; a brother, Harry and his wife, Bonnie Johns of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren, Marisa Lee Martin, Kassidy, Kennedy, Karter and Karson Kesner.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
There are no calling hours.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
