YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Christine Parish, for Mary Patricia "Pat" Lettau, who passed away at The Inn at Christine Valley on Thursday night, surrounded by her beloved family.
Mrs. Lettau, affectionately known as "Pat," was born the daughter of Loretta E. Ward and Rollo Stafford in Youngstown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Smith and Sister Vera Stafford, HM.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Lettau, whom she married on Aug. 9, 1947, and who died in 1997, and son Tommy, who died in 1955.
Pat was a graduate of Ursuline High School.
During World War II, she worked at A&P's main office as a comptroller in the accounting department.
When Paul returned from the war, they were soon married and became a family.
Pat leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Lori (Tom) Pugh of Youngstown and Mary Pat (Dave) Work of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, Paul (Joyce) Lettau of Boardman, Joseph (Mary) Lettau of Austintown, and Mark (Diana) Lettau of Natrona Heights, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pat and Paul were among the founding members of St. Joseph Parish in Austintown, where she was very active. During her many years at St. Joe's, Pat taught CCD, and children's RCIA and Bible School. She was also president of St. Joseph Garden Club, and a member of the ladies guild and Infant of Prague. Most recently she became a member of St. Christine Parish in Youngstown, across from her home at The Inn.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards, and knitting for her many grandchildren. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and preparing elaborate meals and holiday celebrations with lots of baked goods.
Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and again Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at St. Christine Parish.
