AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Mary Lozier, 87, who died unexpectedly early Monday morning at her home.
Mary was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Seattle, the daughter of James and Vivian (Kroutter) McGonagle.
A graduate of Case Western University, she had worked as a laboratory technologist at the Cleveland Clinic and for area doctors before retiring.
A longtime member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, she had served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth’s and the church on its Altar and Rosary Society and as a master gardener, she enjoyed decorating the church for special occasions and holy seasons. Mary was also socially active serving as an activity director at local nursing homes and as a member of the Red Hat society and Mill Creek Park’s Fellow’s Garden and several bridge clubs.
Mary’s husband was Frank W. Lozier, whom she married May 9, 1953, died Feb. 2, 1997.
She is survived by her three sons, Larry A. Lozier of New York, N.Y., Steven J. (Maria) Lozier of Fairlawn Heights, and Charles M. Lozier of Canton; three grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, and Julie; and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond and Daniel Lozier; her uncle and aunt, Charles McGonagle and Helen “Cookie” McManus whom, along with her grandparents, helped raise her in Newark.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails and never ends. That’s what Mary meant to all of us who knew her.”
Friends may call Friday morning from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
