YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held at Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church for Mary A. Popio, 97, who passed away Saturday evening at her home.
Mary was born June 14, 1919, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late August and Anna (Germano) Siciliano.
Mary was a member of St. Brendan Church.
She was the matriarch of the family and loved spending time with them and cooking.
Her husband, Joseph R. Popio, whom she married in 1942, passed away May 30, 1997.
Mary is survived by two sons, Richard J. Popio of Poland and Robert J. Popio of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Richard (Margie) Popio of Richmond, Va., Joseph R. (Sheila) Popio of Youngstown, Kristen Popio of High Ridge, Mo. and Jessica (Mark) Roca of Austintown; a great-grandson, Joseph E. (Chelsea) Popio; a great-great-granddaughter, Staci Popio; and a brother, John (Ann) Siciliano of Youngstown.
Mary's family would like to thank her extended family for all of their care and love they gave to Mary, Debbie Maderitz, Traci Maderitz, Kristi Maderitz, Eboni Davis, beloved Emoni Davis, Shayla Maderitz, and Robert George Maderitz.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Christine Kalis and five brothers, Paddy, Frank, Jimmy, Rocky and Tony Siciliano.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
