AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Mary Catherine “Katy” Rosen, 94, who passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Assumption Village.
She was born Sept. 29, 1924, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Martin) Trant.
She was a graduate of Ursuline High School and a member of St. Dominic Church.
During World War II she worked as a telephone operator at Ohio Bell, before starting a family, raising five children and one grandson.
She was the matriarch of her family. She loved being with her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved art work, doing a lot of toll painting, and she designed her wedding gown.
She is survived by two sons, Rich (Dianna “Pinky”) Rosen of Boardman and Jim (Amy) Rosen of Akron; a daughter, Karen (Brent) Miller of Pahoa, Hawaii; five grandchildren, Tim McQuillan, Jimmy Rosen, Kelsey Rosen, Rich (Courtney) Rosen, and Rob (Melissa) Rosen; and three great-grandchildren, Brynn Rosen, Dylan Rosen, and Julia Rosen.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rosen; a daughter, Kathleen McQuillan; a son, Patrick Rosen; a brother, Jack Trant; and a sister, Eleanor Parteleno.
The family would like to thank Assumption Village Special Care Unit for their loving and excellent care that she received.
Family and friends may call Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at St. Dominic Church.
