Mary Stoops

December 8, 1939 — November 3, 2017

GIRARD - Mary Sandra Stoops, 77, died peacefully surrounded in love by her family on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017.
"Sandy" was born on Dec. 8, 1939, in Youngstown, the daughter of Robert and Helen Moran.
She graduated from Fitch High School and was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Heart church. Sandy married the love of her life Paul Stoops on Aug. 20, 1960.
A beautiful example of a loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently a great-grandmother, Sandy was amazing at making everyone around her feel special and loved. She never forgot a birthday, special occasion or important event, and made sure we didn't forget either.
Sandy was dedicated to her family and friends. She loved her crafts and craft club. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved reading to them, acting out the characters in the books, making up her own stories, singing bedtime songs, and playing endless games while sitting cross-legged on the floor.
Sandy was a courageous spirit, with a vibrant personality and witty sense of humor. Her philosophy was to live in the moment and work always at having a positive attitude, which she demonstrated throughout her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her family and children, Karen (Stephen) Harrold, Deborah (Jeffrey) Filimon, Paul (Viki) Stoops, Stacy (Kurt) Latell, and Sean (Heather) Stoops; grandchildren Luke (Kara) Stouffer, Jacob (Saylee) Stouffer, Paul Anthony Latell, Isabella Latell, Trent Harrold, Audrey Filimon, Shane Stoops, Andrew Stoops, and Vivian Stoops, and her first great-grandchild, Kaycen Stouffer.
Sandra's beloved siblings include Robert Dennis (Sally) Moran, Anita Virag, and Brian (Cherrie) Moran.
She was preceded in death and now will return to her loving husband, Paul M. Stoops; infant son, Gregory; her parents, Robert and Helen Moran; brother Thomas Moran and his wife Mary; brothers-in-law Ron Stoops and Bill Virag; and sister-in-law Marianne Kralj.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church officiated by the Rev. Gregory Fedor.
