POLAND - Prayers will be held at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, Poland for Mrs. Mary Louise Torella who died Saturday afternoon at Hospice House.
She was born March 13, 1925, in Struthers, a daughter of John and Anna Hornyak.
Mary Louise was a homemaker, a member of the church, past Diocesan President of the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and had organized the guild at the Holy Trinity, Struthers and at Holy Family. She was a past member of the NCCW, was a Regent for the Catholic Daughters of Court Saint Ann, was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Mount Carmel Society in Lowellville. Mary Louise's devotion was to the Infant of Prague and the Blessed Mother.
She was married to James P. Torella, whom she married June 1, 1945, and he died May 21, 2011.
Mary Louise leaves three daughters, Barbara Thomas Ligotti of Fort Myers, Fla., Jean Paul Seifert of Houston and Roberta Torella of Poland; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Carolyn Ann and Susan Linda Torella; one sister, Geraldine Hornyak; and three brothers, John, Thomas and Charles Hornyak.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice House for all their care and compassion for Mary Louise.
Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
