SYLVANIA - Prayers will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan Church for Mary Frances Vaccaro, who passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Sunset Village in Sylvania.
Mary was born in Yatesboro, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise D'Inca Tibolla. She resided in Youngstown for most of her life.
She married Anthony D. Vaccaro Feb. 10, 1944, with whom she spent 40 wonderful years until his passing in 1984.
Mary was a graduate of East High School. She was employed with Bank of America in California, Dollar Bank of Youngstown and Mahoning Bank before starting her own business. She was a member of St. Brendan Church and their Altar and Rosary Society and Family Life. Mary was a member of the St. Anthony Society and Auxiliary of Struthers, Sam Camens, Sacred Heart Mission, Lowellville Seniors, Knights of Columbus No. 3930 Ladies Auxiliary, AARP Poland Chapter No. 2520, RSVP, and Royal Seniors and volunteered for the American Red Cross. Mary was active at the Youngstown Senior Center, where she participated in oil and water color painting, square and line dancing, and the Golden Age Follies.
Mary leaves her two children, Gary Judy Vaccaro of Kent and Suzanne Richard Martinko of Sylvania; six grandchildren, Michael, Adam, Benjamin Emily, and Peter Vaccaro and Steve Erin and Lindsay Martinko; and two great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth and Dominic Vaccaro. She also leaves her special godchild, Joanne Kalbasky; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Marr and a brother, Jack Tibolla.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
