NEW MIDDLETOWN - Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, July 4, 2011, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church Youngstown for MaryAnn Potkanowicz, 73, of Boardman who died Thursday morning at Hospice House.

MaryAnn was born Feb. 6, 1938, In Youngstown, a daughter of James and Dolores Morris.

She was a 1956 graduate of Ursuline High School and had worked as the cook at St. Stanislaus Rectory for 20 years, retiring in 2009.

She was the member of St. Stanislaus Church, its Infant Guild, and the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She visited nursing homes and enjoyed playing cards and had belonged to several area card clubs. She is remembered for her love of nourishing souls and stomachs, especially those of her grandchildren.

MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Bernard T., whom she married Feb. 7, 1959; two daughters, Mary Dr. John Baumeier of Liberty and Trish Vincent Baquero of Pittsburgh; four sons, Thomas Chris of Geneva, Ill., Dan Jill of Poland, William Wendy of Austintown and John Nicolette of New Middletown; a stepsister, Loreen Duponty of Atlanta; three brothers, her twin, James Carol of Poland and twins, Tim Carol of Charlotte and Terry Terry K. Morris of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Potkanowicz and a brother, Daniel Morris.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, where a prayer service will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday.
