Matilda Bruno

BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Austintown for Mrs. Matilda Jean Bruno, 94, who died Sunday morning at her home.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Coral, Pa., a daughter of Samuel and Matilda (Benak) Vilcek.

Matilda was a graduate of Homer City High School. Her family moved to Warren, where she met the love of her life, Anthony P. Bruno, after he returned from the war. They were married in 1947 and he died in December of 1994.

Matilda was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Her greatest joy was her family. She was the rock of the family.

Matilda leaves her son, James A. Bruno and his wife, Atty. Lynn Sfara Bruno, of Boardman; three grandchildren, Michele, Lisa and Nicholas; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; two sons, Patrick and Anthony Bruno; four brothers, John, Samuel, Michael and Bart Vilcek; and a sister, Marie Mancini.

Friends may call today from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions maybe made in memory of Matilda to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
