POLAND - A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Mrs. Melba Jo Young, 75, who died Friday evening at her residence.
Melba was born in Youngstown and was a daughter of James H. and Mary E. Nichols Absalom.
She retired from the Dollar Bank, working in customer service, and then want to work for Infocision as a telemarketer, where she received special recognition from the St. Jude's Foundation for raising a substantial amount of money for their foundation. Melba was a member of the Saxon Club and enjoyed bowling.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, John; three daughters, Lori (Andy) Shinosky of Austintown, Kathy Scott, with whom she shared a home, and Jackie (Tony) Roth of Youngstown; a sister, Carolyn (Richard) Semivan of Austintown; sister-in-law Sally Absalom of Austintown; three grandchildren, Robert Scott, Travis McCabe and Andrew Shinosky; and her dog, Brutus.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jean Hoffman; and her brother, James "Eddie" Absalom.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley in memory of Melba.
