Michael Antonoff

December 22, 1939 — August 4, 2016

CANFIELD - Prayers will begin Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church for Michael R. Antonoff, 76, who died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Michael was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Youngstown, the son of Anton and Theresa (Haus) Antonoff.

He was a 1957 graduate of Chaney High School and served his country under a three-star general in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On July 23, 1960, he married his sweetheart since junior high, the former Rosemarie Hardy, having just recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

One of the things Mike was so proud of was working for the Home Savings and Loan Company of Youngstown for 42 years and retiring in 2002. For many years , Michael served his community. He served as an Austintown Township Trustee for 16 years. He was a member and past president of the Austintown Rotary Club and a member of the Austintown Historical Society. Mike was recently recognized for his contribution in establishing the first Austintown 4th of July parade and the renovations of the Austin Log Cabin, an Ohio historical landmark.

Michael was a board member at D&E Counseling Center and the Circle of Friends. Through the D&E Counseling Center , Michael was honored to have Youngstown Camp Challenge dedicated in his name. One of Michael's most treasured memories while growing up was traveling the country as a professional ballroom dancer. For 13 years, Michael and his sister, Ginger, preformed and competed a number of times in front of various audiences.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Cerimele of Youngstown; his son, Michael D. Antonoff of Columbus; two sisters, Nancy (Fred) Rosko of Canfield and Ginger Thompson of Canfield; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth (fiance Ryan Kelly), Dante Cerimele, Olivia Antonoff and Allison Antonoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ann Main, Mary Jane Antonoff, Rita Antonoff and Dorothy Hoffman; and his brother, Tony Antonoff.

Family and friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road, Canfield, OH 44406.
