Michael Demain

May 19, 1926 — November 8, 2014

YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Michael Patrick DeMain, 88, who died Saturday morning at Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Michael was born May 19, 1926, in Youngstown, to Michael and Lena (DiPietro) DeMain.

He was a 1945 graduate of East High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Michael worked for the Youngstown Police Department as a police officer for 33 years until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the Italian American Veterans, ITAM #3, and the FOP #28.

Michael enjoyed going to the YMCA, golfing, reading and gardening. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

His wife, the former Dorothy Evans, whom he married May 3, 1958, died May 14, 2005.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Koutsourais of Economy, PA; three grandchildren, Chaz, Michelle and Nicole Koutsourais; a great grandchild, Payton Koutsourais; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Rose Vitacula; four brothers, James, John, Frank, and Joseph DeMain.

Family and friends may call Monday for one hour prior to the services.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sprat and his staff, Dr. Awad Alexander, and Dr. Hoffman for the wonderful care given to Michael.
