YOUNGSTOWN - Michael Johnson passed away peacefully on Oct. 8, at Greenbriar Nursing home, where he had been a resident under hospice care for two weeks.
Michael was born on Easter Sunday, April 14, 1963, to James and Joyce Macy Johnson, and lived in the Youngstown area his entire life.
He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1981 and was self-employed. "Mike" operated a local limousine business and later became the proprietor of the South Side Civics Club until it closed.
Always a fan of the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Indians, he enjoyed gathering with friends and family to watch his favorite teams.
Mike will be greatly missed by his fiancée, Linda Roman of Youngstown; her daughters and grandchildren; his father, James, of Canfield; his brothers, Christopher (Michelle) of Windham and Jeffrey of Canfield; his sisters, Mary Beth (Larry) Sammartino of Hilliard and Cathleen of Boardman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Johnson; maternal grandparents, Lucille and Cecil Macy; and paternal grandparents, Regina and James Johnson.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr Center Drive in Canfield, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m.
Interment will be private.
A benefit will be held in Michael's name on Oct. 22, 2017, from 2 to 6 p.m at the Petri Club, 3650 Shady Run Road in Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund to offset Mike's medical and final expenses and requests that any donations be sent to James C. Johnson, 9818 Belden Drive, Windham, OH 44288.
