CANFIELD - There will be services Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown for Michael Carmen Galose Jr., M.D., 80, who passed away Saturday morning at Hospice House.
Michael was born Sept. 18, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of Michael Carmen Galose Sr. and Serafina Brucoli Galose.
He was a 1944 graduate of The Rayen School and a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces in Naval Aviation from 1944 to 1946.
Michael graduated from The Ohio State Pharmacy School in 1950 and The Ohio State Medical School in 1956. He did his internship at St. Elizabeth Hospital from 1956 to 1957 and his residency in Pediatrics at Akron Children¹s Hospital from 1968 to 1969.
Michael had been a Board Certified Family Practitioner since 1974 and held hospital privileges at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Western Reserve Care System.
He was a member of the Mahoning County Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Practice, and The Ohio State Medical Association. He received The Ohio State Medical Association ³50 years in medicine Distinguished Physician Award." He practiced medicine for 40 years in the community.
He was also an avid golfer and member of the Tippecanoe Country Club and a member of St. Patrick Church.
Michael leaves his wife of 40 years, the former Lillian Nancy Costantino, whom he married Oct. 26, 1967; three daughters, Angela Annunziato Garofalo, Amanda Shawn VanValkenburg, and Mary Jean Lowery; two sons, Michael Galose III and William Galose; a sister, Phyllis Ann Murphy; and four grandchildren, Sophia and Luca Garofalo and Gianna and Giulia VanValkenburg.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
