YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Michael A. Pierson, 42, of Youngstown's Westside, who died Wednesday evening at the Hospice House after an 18 month, three week courageous battle with Glioblastma brain cancer.
Michael was born Nov. 14, 1968, in Youngstown, the son of William G. and Agnes Pierson.
He was a 1987 graduate of Chaney High School and later graduated from the New Castle School of Trades. He had worked as a material handler for Vinyl Profiles in North Jackson for over 10 years, until the time of his illness.
Mike will always be remembered as a great guy who enjoyed home brewing, wood turning, carving, photography, cooking and his love of animals.
He is survived by his mother, Agnes Pierson of Canfield; brother John Pierson and his wife of Columbus; two nieces; and two cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday morning, one hour prior to services at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either Angels for Animals or Hospice of the Valley in Mike's memory.
