NORTH LIMA - Prayers will be held Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers for Michael Pollock, 93. Michael passed away early Thursday morning at Assumption Village, and was blessed to be in such kind and caring hands in his last days.
Michael was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Mary (Kotulik) Pollock.
Michael graduated in 1939 with the first graduating class at Woodrow Wilson High School. He served in the Army Air Corps as a B24 crew chief during World War II in Honolulu.
Michael was a scheduling clerk for General Fireproofing for over 30 years. After his retirement, he worked for 29 years at Struthers Beer and Wine along side his daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the church, a lifelong member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post No. 87 and a member of the Knights of Columbus Poland Council.
His beloved wife, the former Charlotte T. Siembida, whom he married June 3, 1942, passed away Oct. 10, 2000.
Michael leaves his daughter, Michele (David) Wrikeman of Poland; two grandchildren Alex Wrikeman and Katterli (Lee) Coloutes; a sister, Betty Peplow of Youngstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael was also preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Banjo, Ann Poprik, and Irene Ferrick; five brothers, John, Joseph, Andrew, Nicholas, and Steve Pollock; and two half sisters, Catherine Paul and Mary Gran.
Michael took pride in many remodeling projects throughout the years and enjoyed entertaining at his home. His family, friends, and neighbors are proud to have spent so many years with such a warm and endearing man.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
