BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Dominic Church for Michelina A. "Mickey" Lascola, 98, who passed away unexpectedly Saturday at her home.
Mickey who was formerly of the South side of Youngstown was born Feb. 22, 1914, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Maria Gaglione Mascari.
She had worked as a sales associate for Gray Drug stores for over 22 years before retiring in 1978.
She was a lifetime member of St. Dominic Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and its Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.
Mickey was an avid poker player and enjoyed playing cards with her friends at AHEPA House.
Most importantly, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first. She was also an outstanding Italian cook, who in the timeless tradition, passed her gift and passion to members of her family.
Her husband, Leonard J. Lascola, whom she married Sept. 30, 1940, died June 23, 1985.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne Knight of McDonald and Marie Max Pelleschi of Youngstown; three sons, Tony Alice Lascola of Boardman, Leonard J. "Leo" Judy Lascola of Poland and Micheal J. Susan Lascola of Boardman; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law. Ray Knight; six sisters; and two brothers.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
