POLAND - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, for Mike Bezyak, 100, who passed away Sunday evening at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
Mike was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Youngstown, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Radovic) Bezyak.
Mike was a truck driver from 1931 to 1941, for E.L. Davis and Sons, and then Mahoning Express. In 1981, Mike retired after 40 years as a truck driver for Lake Shore Motor Freight. He was a member of the Holy Family Church and the Teamsters Local 377 Retirees Club. Mike also enjoyed auto racing and football.
His wife, the former Helen C. Hlubik, whom he married June 27, 1937, passed away Nov. 18, 2000.
Mike leaves two daughters, Rose Marie Turnbull of New Springfield and Helen L. Ferrare of Youngstown; son Michael R. (Donna) Bezyak; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by a son, John A. Bezyak; grandson Paul Ferrare; great-grandson Christian Bezyak; sisters Kathryn Hopkins, Lillian Markotan, Mary Fox, Caroline Pinizotto, and Dorothy Stupka; and infant sister, Barbara Bezyak.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Bezyak family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Assumption Village and Hospice of the Valley Hospice House for all of their kind treatment and care during this time.
