AUSTINTOWN ? Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Mildred Edna ?Mid? Cooley, 91, who died Wednesday evening at Briarfield Manor.
Mildred, who was also known as ?Mid,? was born June 13, 1919, in Bitner, Pa., the daughter of William Edward and Dora Lee Colbert Marks. She came to this area in 1950 from Fairchance, Pa.
She had worked as a cook and cafeteria manager for the Youngstown Board of Education from 1961 until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Union Local No. 1143. She was a member of the Youngstown First Free Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, CYC Director, a member of the Missionary Society, Church Steward Council and a delegate to the Ohio Conference. She was also a volunteer at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital and a member of the Hospital Guild.
Mildred?s husband, Harry L. Cooley, whom she married March 15, 1940, died Oct. 31, 1993.
She is survived by her sons, Earl E. ?Jack? Cooley Sr. of Youngstown and Ronald Lee Cheryl Ross Cooley of Hubbard; two grandchildren, Earl E. Cooley Jr. and Melissa Mark Miller; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Rae Price, Vera LaPorte, Gwendolyn N. Clark and Elizabeth Anderson; and three brothers, Earl N., James and Eugene Marks.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Youngstown First Free Methodist Church in Mid?s memory.
