YOUNGSTOWN - A memorial service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Milton Lee Bowlen Sr., 79, who passed away Wednesday morning at Austinwoods.
Milton was born May 27, 1936, in Fairchance, Pa., a son of the late Charles N. and Myrtle L. (Cooley) Bowlen.
Milton served in the U.S. Army as a parachute rigger from 1954 to 1957, and received the National Defense Service Medal and a Parachutist Badge. He was also a welder for 30 years.
Milton leaves his wife, Ann G. Bowlen, whom he married Dec. 23, 1954; three daughters, MaryLou (Terry) Blessing of Houston, Cheryl A. (Jack) Shaughnessy of Houston, and Cynthia L. Holbrook of Youngstown; sons Milton (DeDee) Bowlen Jr. and George C. (Terri) Bowlen, both of Youngstown; 12 grandchildren, Ben (Lisa) Blessing of Houston, Kelly Blessing of Houston, Jason Shaughnessy of Houston, Tim Blessing of Houston, Missy (Garrett) Sowell of Houston, Sheena (Jim) Stuckey of Houston, Kymberly Bowlen of Youngstown, Jodi Bowlen of Youngstown, Carly Bowlen of Youngstown, Nick Bowlen of Youngstown, Brian (Allie) Slaughter of Girard, and Nathan Bowlen of Youngstown; four great-grandchildren, Maizey and Wyatt Sowell, and Jordan and Anastasia Stuckey; two brothers, Clayton Bowlen and Barry Bowlen, both of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jonathan R. and Sean J. Slaughter; and a brother, Robert Bowlen.
