CANFIELD - Services will be Monday evening at 6 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Myron M. "Mike" Haas Jr., 59, who died Friday surrounded by family after a battle with cancer.
Mike was born Jan. 16, 1954, in Youngstown, the son of Myron and Joan Butler Haas.
He attended Wilson High School. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Marine Division as a supply clerk and motor vehicle operator at Camp Lejeune, N.C., where he received the National Defense and Meritorious service medals.
He had worked at Schaffer Equipment in Warren as a craneman before becoming a self-employed finish carpenter in the area. He had been a very active member of the Canfield Baseball Association, the Canfield Little Cardinals and Boy Scott Troup No. 25 of Canfield.
Mike loved woodworking, making stained glass projects with his wife, riding his Harley Davidson, eating Elmton Pizza and especially spending time with his children and granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, the former JoAnne Connolly, whom he married June 12, 1972; his mother, Joan Jackson of Youngstown; a daughter, Tiffany Jo Haas of Middlefield; a son, William D. Katie Haas of Canfield; a sister, Patty Gary Brown of Columbus; two brothers, Robert Denise Haas of Florida and Donny Terri Haas of Boardman; two brothers-in-law, Tom Kate Connolly of Youngstown and Joe Dolly Connolly of Champion; a sister-in-law, Kathy Haas; two granddaughters, Ashleigh and Jessica Haas; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Myron Haas; his son, Myron Mike Haas; and his brother Lloyd Haas.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley in Mike's memory.
