POLAND - Prayers will be held Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, for Nancy Lee Baughman, who passed away peacefully at Hospice House surrounded by family and friends after a courageous seven month battle with lung cancer.
Nancy was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Youngstown, a daughter of Thomas and Virginia (Logan) Slater of Poland.
A lifelong area resident, she was a 1954 graduate of South High School and met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Baughman while working for Greyhound Bus Lines as a tour planner and telephone information clerk. They married Oct. 4, 1958 raising three children. Nancy and Dick were charter members of St. Luke Church in Boardman, where she was active with the Altar Rosary Society and numerous church festivals.
Nancy was also active in the Poland Softball Community, the Poland PTA and several of her children’s school activities. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, baking and loved a good recipe book.
Nancy will be sadly missed by her daughter, Dianne; her sons, Greg (Sue) and Rick; grandchildren Stephanie (Anthony) Guht and Danielle (Joe) Colaluca; along with her faithful dog, Snooki; granddog Gracie; and great-granddogs Junior, Shamus and Dexter.
She also leaves her brother, Tom (Marilyn) Slater; brother-in-law Ronald (Caramel) Baughman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Dick Baughman; and several special friends and family.
Nancy always remembered special occasions of her loved ones with a handwritten card. Those loving sentiments will be greatly missed by so many as she always took the time to make people feel special.
The family extends their sincere thanks to Barb Smith, Ellen and Tom Wanamaker and the staff at Hospice of the Valley’s Hospice House (especially Kelli and Patrice whom she bonded with immediately) for the countless hours spent with her and the compassionate care provided to her.
Friends and family may attend calling hours on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 S. Range, Canfield, OH 44406; and Hospice of the Valley’s Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Youngstown, OH 44524.
