Prayers will be held Friday at 9:30 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Nancy Kathryn (Flynn) Brode, 84, who passed away Sunday at her home with her family by her side, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimers.
Nancy was born Oct. 11, 1932 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late James and Jeanette (Hershey) Flynn.
Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School. Her passion was her faith and family, especially raising her eight children. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Nancy loved to watch her grandchildren play sports, read, travel and go to casinos.
Her husband, Paul H. Brode, whom she married April 16, 1955, passed away Dec. 16, 2013.
Nancy leaves her eight children, Lisa Hlinka, whom she made her home with in Lordstown, Gregory (Marilyn) Brode of Austintown, Lori Brode of Boardman, Gary (Delane) Brode of Ft. Myers, FL., Shelley (John) Kotch of Austintown, Paul Brode Jr. Youngstown, Melissa Niebauer of Annapolis, MD., and Amy (John) Vaught of Austintown; fourteen grandchildren, James Hlinka Jr., Jaime (Ray) Lebok, Jessica (Kevin) Kihm, Gary Brode Jr., Nathan and Dustin Brode, Chelsea, Alex, and Ian Kotch, Jacob and Troy Niebauer, and JD, Samantha, and Jordan Vaught; a great grandson, Landon Kihm; and a sister, Patricia Murphy of Canfield.
Nancy was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Flynn.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
