AUSTINTOWN There will be services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Neal Cooper, 68, who died Saturday evening at Forum Health Northside Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 2, 1938 in Elkins, W.Va., a son of Warder and Margie Collett Cooper.
He came here from the Akron area in 1986. Mr. Cooper was a 1957 graduate of Elkins High School. He was employed at the General Motors Lordstown Plant in the van plant, paint department and as a driver for 35 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a Christian. He was in the U.S. Army and served in Italy. He was a member of FOE Aerie No. 3298 in Austintown and the Mended Hearts Club.
He leaves a daughter, Dawn Ed Strohm of Lexington; a son, Raymond Cooper of Columbus; three brothers, Warder Wilda Cooper of French Creek, W.Va., Curtis Patricia Cooper of Elkins and Paul Cooper of Newark, Del.; a very
special grandson, Derek Strohm; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. He also leaves his former wife, Marilyn Reining of Akron; and his former
mother-in-law, Lucille Johnson of Crestline.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrel Cooper.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour before the services at the funeral home.
The Eagles will hold services at 7 p.m. Wednesday and a military committal service will be held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, following the funeral service Thursday morning at the funeral home.
