YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, for Nick Ferreri, 89, who passed away Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Nick was born June 9, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of the late Frank and Immaculate (Pedulla) Ferreri.
Nick was proud of his time in the service. He was Private First Class with the 484th Army Air Force Base Unit and served during World War II.
He was employed by Truscon Steel Company as a Tow Motor Operator. He was also a custodian for 10 years at the Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church.
Nick was a current member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church. He also enjoyed watching TV, especially Gomer Pyle.
Nick leaves his wife, the former Barbara Kaufman, whom he married June 27, 1970; two sons, Dave Ferreri of St. Augustine, Fla. and Mark Ferreri of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Chris Cashbaugh, Sharon Cashbaugh, Tiffany (Emad Berakat) Ferreri, Shane (Nicole) Ferreri, Michael Ferreri, Taylor Brenner and Tayliann Ferreri; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ann Ferreri.
Nick was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Cashbaugh; a daughter-in-law, Dale Ferreri; two sisters, Jenny Bossone and Mary Neri; and three brothers, Tony, Jim, and Sam Ferreri.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to the Heritage Presbyterian Church.
Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
