Nick George Jr

YOUNGSTOWN - Private services were held for Nick L. George Jr., 89, who died early Wednesday morning at home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Campbell, to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Calbourn) George.
Nick attended Campbell Memorial High School and served his county in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Marshall Islands during World War II. He worked as a truck driver for LTV Steel for over 35 years until retiring.
Nick is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Ruth Shaffer; a daughter, Ree (Greg) Werden of Youngstown; a son, Nick (Sherri) George III of Stafford, Va.; four grandchildren, Kent, Kirt, Nick IV, and Kathryn; four great-grandchildren, Kent II, Kevin, Mike, and Megan; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Rickie Johnson.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
Burial took place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
