Youngstown- Olga Sveda, 93, formerly of Boquet Ave., fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Sveda, affectionately known as Baba, was born August 8, 1914 in Lemont, PA, a daughter of Michael and Katherine Drapp coming to Campbell in 1937, moving to Youngstown several years later.
She was a homemaker, worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years in the Nursery in North Side Hospital.
She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, the Sisterhood and Campbell "O" Club. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Her husband Michael "Spike" Sveda, whom she married June 26, 1937, passed away April 8, 1982.
Mrs. Sveda is survived by two daughters, June Herd of Austintown, and Virginia James Osikiewicz of Petersburg; three sisters, Ann Smith of Albion, PA, Elsie Gladd of Kentucky, and Agnes Cryder of Jersey Shore, PA; eight grandchildren, Michael June Furda, Mark Sherri Furda, Michelle Mark Miller, Christine James Kula, Brian Sablack, Gregg Michelle Sablack, Jeffery Beth Osikiewicz, and Christopher Denise Osikiewicz; sixteen great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Jeccica, and Joell Miller, Nolan and MacKenzie Sablack, Courtney and Nicholas Kula, Christian, Jeremia, and Michelle Sablack, Christina, Jessica, and Michael Furda, Chelse and Matthew Furda.
Beside her parents and stepfather Matthew Sticknor, and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Jane Sablack; two sisters, Mary Gall and Helen Breese; five brothers, Andrew, Matthew, Michael, Nicholas, and William Sticknor.
Panachida Services will be held at 11am Thursday, at St. John the Baptist Church, 301 Struthers-Liberty Rd. in Campbell with the Very Rev. John Staffaro officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Rd. Rt. 224. Friends may also call from 10:30 to 11:00AM at the church.
Mrs. Sveda will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Church Cemetery.
