CANFIELD - Services will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for P. James Auld, 77, who passed away peacefully July 29, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House with his loving family surrounding him.
"Jim" is survived by his children, Ronald J. (Delina) Auld of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter Diane Moyer and grandson Brandon Moyer, also of Jacksonville; sister Betty (Henry) Hassay of Poland; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim also leaves Judith Orr; daughters, Jodylynn (Joe) Rolla, Jeanne (Atty. Gary) Corroto, and Jennifer (Randy) McCon; and grandchildren JC and Holly Rolla, David and Lindsay Rella, Mark Corroto, Mitchell and Travis Tikkanen.
He worked with his brother-in-law at Haselton Motors from the time he was 14. After graduating from East High School in 1954, he worked for General Fireproofing until he was drafted in the U.S. Army. After an honorable discharge from the Army in 1965, he returned to Haselton Motors until he retired in 1994.
Jim always loved fishing and hunting. His favorite times included hunting with his son, Ron and best buddy, Tony Colella. Jim and Judy shared countless vacations traveling to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Florida to visit Ron, Diane and Brandon. Many happy adventures with Betty and Henry included Pinehurst, N.C. for golf, cruises, family gatherings and much more, celebrating life as only Jim could. He enjoyed bocce, golf and winters in Florida. Jim loved the pool and spending time with all his grandchildren.
Jim's sense of humor was contagious. Known as "Buzz," "Brother" "Dad," "Jiminy," "Papa," "Big Jim," "Uncle Jim" and "Cricket," he was loved by all who new him.
He was a member of The American Legion Post No. 737, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post No. 3298; as well as a member of the Jednota Golf league.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Margaret (Watkins) Auld; his first wife and mother of his children, Jeanne Mladenoff Auld in 1972; and his second wife, Gayle Sweringen Auld in February of 1989.
The family requests that monetary tributes be made to Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
