DELAWARE, OHIO A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St. in New Middletown for Patricia Juliann Phillips, who died at her home Saturday, March 14, 2009. She is now pain free and cancer free in heaven with the Lord.
Patricia was born to Aloysius and Albina Eileen Kowalczyk on Feb. 16, 1936 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The longtime New Middletown resident was a devoted wife and mother for 47 years.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; four sons, Jeffrey Carl of Stoutsville, Robert Glenn of Medina, Thomas William of Pickerington and Douglas Paul of Bowling Green; three daughters-in-law, Kari Hammer-Phillips, Paula Lindsay Phillips and Paula Romeo Phillips; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Kelsey, Eric, Paige and Jake; special family friend, Courtney Pilch; three brothers, Aloysius, Paul and Gregory; two sisters, Mary Staszkiewicz and Joy Brandt; and a legion of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Patricia, also known as Ma Phillips was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William Kowalczyk, David Kowalczy k and Richard Kowalczyk; and nephew, Thomas Kowalczyk.
Patricia¹s interests included reading, golfing, crocheting, knitting and attending countless youth, high school and college football games for 40 years..
Her grandchildren looked forward to her tasty pizzelles, wh ich she always made for special occasions.
She is remembered for her kind, caring, nurturing albeit grounded and practical nature as matriarch of the Phillips family, and ³second mother² to her many younger siblings. For these reasons and more we celebrate her truly special life, and are left with fond memories which will last several lifetimes.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
